Randy Travis, Little Bigtown, Monster Truck Show Coming to Northwest Washington Fair
Country-music legend Randy Travis and Little Bigtown, one of country’s top vocal groups, have been added to the schedule of grandstand entertainment at this year’s Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden.
“Every year we try to do better than we did the previous year,” fair manager Jim Baron said. “This year I think we have reached that goal with our entertainment lineup.”
The fair is scheduled Aug. 11-16. It previously had announced that pop-music icon Chicago will perform Thursday, Aug. 14. Randy Travis will step onto the grandstand stage Tuesday, Aug. 12, followed by Little Bigtown on Wednesday, Aug. 13. All three concerts will start at 8 p.m.
Also, the Northwest Washington Fair’s first monster truck show will be presented at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. The annual demolition derby will start the 2008 Fair’s grandstand shows with events at 1 and 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11.
Tickets for the Chicago performance already are available at www.nwwafair.com or by calling (360) 354-7777. Randy Travis will be an all-reserved seating show while there will be limited free seating available for Little Bigtown. Reserved seating tickets for both shows will be $27 for preferred seating and $22 for reserved, which doesn’t include gate admission to the fair.
Reserved seating only tickets will be available for the monster truck show ($8 for children 12 and younger and $15 for all others) and the demolition derby ($8 for the afternoon show and $13 for the evening competition).
Early access to those tickets will be given in May to people who sign up at the fair’s website for its free newsletter. Grandstand entertainment for Friday, Aug. 15 is expected to be finalized soon, Baron added.
Travis already has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after a career that includes 22 No. 1 country hits and four Grammy Awards. After a stretch of hard times followed by better days as his life turned around, Travis has reached many fans by singing about faith and betrayal, love found and love lost, honky-tonk Saturday nights and sunlit Sunday mornings.
